Enter Joaquin Miller Park and you will quickly forget that you are minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Hikers, equestrians, bicyclists, joggers and picnickers from all over the Bay Area regularly frequent the 500-acre park.
\nThe rustic woodland trails lead you through redwood groves and oak woodlands and across lush creeksides and wet meadows. It is one of the few open space areas in the City of Oakland where dogs are allowed – on leash – throughout the park.<\/p>\n

The Park is home to one of the only urban second-growth redwood groves in existence, as well as miles of trails, picnic grounds, and a WPA-era art deco construction that includes pools, cascades, and the Woodminster Amphitheater.<\/p>\n

Designed by a team headed by Oakland Park Superintendent William Mott Jr and built as a WPA project, Woodminster Amphitheater and Cascades were dedicated in 1940 as a memorial to California writers<\/p>\n

Woodminster Ampitheater has been the setting for the Woodminster Summer Musicals since 1967. More information can be found here<\/a>. <\/p>\n
